"Balthazar..." Lucifer's hand comes gently to his face to turn it up so he could meet his eyes. "You have always had the right to do that. You are my partner for the rest of our time. This is your home and court as much as mine. You do not have to weather things in silence."
Those words were easy to say, honest and without pause. He had never meant to have his partner feel unable to speak. It only increases his bitterness over the topic.
