the_rebel_son: (What Would Lucifer Do)
[personal profile] the_rebel_son
Lucifer isn't quite sure how this madness started. The angels had opened up the council chamber for visitors and of course Beelzebub had started them drinking, then they got rowdy and people started joining them. Who had brought up the idea of Truth or Dare was unknown but it rippled through the amassing group to a uniform good idea, despite the objective nature of it being a disaster.

Then there was some vote that Lucifer missed where Galahad, Prometheus, and Belial were made judges to keep things in line. That might have been the most reasonable and sane thing since this conversation started. Chairs were rearranged to a big circle.. and all the chairs from the villa had been taken. It was crowded, specially when they decided the judges should have chaises to lounge on. This was some true ancient Greek style madness with the drinking and the topics that were sure to come up. Still, it was all fun and games, right?

Rules of the Road:
1. Top level with your character.
2. Note if you are opting this in as canon for Nexus. This may be done in top level or in individual responses (If there is any questions about this please seek out players OOC.. Discord, PM in Dw etc)
3. A character may only ask truth or dare of the same character once.
4. However, a character may ask as many different characters as they please.
5. Characters may ask questions without doing a top level. However the 1 per the same character applies
6. If your character is crossing threads for a dare, please link back to the original comment where the dare was issued.
7. When in doubt ask?

Darn, Moloch chose truth and not dare. No chance of making him say something nice to Lucifer. Oh, well, it was worth a shot, and he does have a question in mind to ask. He just needs a moment to word it properly.

"Let's say things pass in your universe that lifts your curse. God..." He swallows. "...dies, or what have you. No more war, no more need to fight. What would you do, if you could live a life of peace?"

"For that to happen Lucifer'd regain his creative power." Moloch is more clarifying the situation that would have to happen.

"Ask Lucifer to send me back into the void we're made from." The angel glanced at the way too cheery one beside him. "Raising my curse won't change much for me. I've got no light to regain when God dies."

He's serious too. This isnt some ploy or game, though there is a tiny satisfaction knowing it might make Aziraphale uncomfortable.

Aziraphale files that fact away for later, but doesn't interrupt. Which is just as well, because Moloch's answer leaves him nearly speechless. The look he gives Moloch is something close to heartbroken.

"But... but why? You wouldn't have to --" He cuts himself off, swallowing hard, and tries not to sound so sad. "What do you mean, you have no light to regain?"

Moloch doesn't really understand why he feels compelled to say anything to this angel. Maybe a desire to taint the optimism he will never have.

"I am the angel of sorrow, human sacrifice, purification, and martyrdom. Even with hope, it is only a hope to die." Moloch frowns at the sadness he hears. He doesn't want the sympathy. He wants to gouge out God's eyes and then go to his own death. "I'm what God himself fears to face. Your own death."

It is a long moment before Aziraphale replies, eyes shadowed with unhappiness. It's the same unpleasant stab of knowledge as the first time Moloch shared this fact with him, that a God would create an angel for this purpose. Hearing that Moloch only wishes to return to the Void, no matter what happens, also brings about more personal, painful memories.

I'm not giving you a suicide pill, Crowley!

Aziraphale does not envy Lucifer in any of this. Not in the slightest.

"And I'm a Principality," he notes. "I was made to lead an entire battalion of angels into Armageddon. I was made to wield a flaming sword." He gestures to himself, as if that should explain it. "Anyone can be more than they were created to be."

"We're different kinds of angels." And there it is again. The strange compulsion to explain things to this angel. It's becoming uncomfortable in it's own right.

"I wasn't made to do them. I am made of them. I am made of sorrow and the pain of torture, the loss of death. It's not the same for for us. Our duties and the power that we were formed of are the same."

It is not the easiest concept for Aziraphale to wrap his mind around, as Moloch is right, they are not the same sort of celestial being. The way Moloch describes himself, he sounds more like one of the horsemen of the Apocalypse than an angel. This truth does not sit well with him, obvious by the frown on his face and the way he twists his hands together.

"What was it like for you before you Fell? Did you wish to return to the Void, even back then? What stopped you?"

"Death didn't exist before the Fall." Moloch offers off hand. "God created death when he murdered."

He took a drink shrugging. "All that's changed is my diet and I used to care if others wanted my company."

"I'm not sure when Death came into existence on my world," Aziraphale murmurs. "God didn't create him by murdering anyone."

He looks at Moloch curiously. "Did you have any friends in Heaven?" He cared enough to possibly seek out the company of others, so maybe...?

"Then your God is a step above ours." Moloch was serious. He might be a killer by creation or nature, but he would never say he was all loving. God had been a hypocrite on that front.

"I was the angel of sorrow and sacrifice in a heaven where death and sadness didn't exist." It's a round about way of saying no, not so much for his personality but that they couldn't even fathom what he was. It had been one of the things that pushed him into the same corner as Lucifer.

"I should hope so," Aziraphale replies with just a touch angelic defensiveness. His God didn't create an angel whose soul purpose was for sorrow and sacrifice! He huffs and then settles back down, fingers twisting in his lap.

Moloch doesn't have to spell it out. "I didn't have any friends, either," he replies with a soft, rueful smile. "I couldn't understand why, I was always polite, always willing to help others... maybe I was too different, even back then. My first friend was a demon. Isn't that funny? I felt more of a connection with him in the five minutes we spoke than all my time in Heaven."

"All I've had is enemies." Moloch shrugs taking a drink though he would never admit it there were a couple angels who at least treated him with neutral curiosity or tolerance. "God created me an abomination."

At the comment about the demon, Moloch raises a brow as his gaze turns to the angel beside him. There's a smirk somewhere between proud and amused. "Is that why you talk to me? Your preference for demons?"

It would make sense given the angel was here with a crew of fallen instead of among his own kind.

"I don't consider you an enemy," Aziraphale says, very quietly, before looking away, certain that Moloch will mock him for it.

And then he blushes and gives Moloch something of a stormy look. "I don't prefer demons. I prefer anyone that I can hold a civil conversation with. There's no need to treat anyone with hostility if there isn't any cause for it, even if they are hereditary enemies."

"Give it time." It isn't quite mockery, prodding perhaps, and definitely despair.

The reddening of his cheeks doesn't go unnoticed. It is enough to get a pointed gaze from Moloch's red-golden eyes. "Why the blush little angel?"

And he's right back at the games that Moloch prefers. "If it is only civil conversations I wouldn't see your rouged cheeks."

Well, that was better than being called a fool. "We'll see. Time is all we have, after all."

And time was once that Aziraphale denied his relationship with Crowley, wanting to protect him from his own kind. Moloch triggers those same urges, but considering that he's bound to find out anyway, the angel works up the nerve to answer, fussing with his collar as if that was somehow to blame for his blushing.

"My demon friend also happens to be my romantic partner. I assure you that he is the exception to the rule of demons on my world, much as I am the exception of angels."
